Xbox Controller Keeps Turning Off: How To Fix In Minutes

Are you bothered because your Xbox controller keeps turning off? Worry not as there are various ways to resolve this issue. First of all, you need to ensure that the batteries of your controller are not dead.

If you want, you can disable the update or auto-sleep mode. There are various other workarounds that you can try to fix this problem such as the "Play and Charge kit".This will help you reset your controller and then reconnect it.

1) Replace the Batteries of Your Xbox Controller

A battery issue can cause your controller to behave abnormally. It may even power off. In case you have any spare batteries, then you must ensure that they are high-quality ones as low-quality batteries don't have a long life. You can also keep battery replacements in your hand. In this way, you won't have to make your gaming sessions shorter.

2) Disable the Auto Sleep Mode of Your Xbox Controller

If your controller turns off after staying inactive for a while, then that means the auto-sleep mode of your controller is turned on. In order to fix this problem, you are required to turn off auto sleep mode. This can easily be done by holding the Menu button and Xbox for at least 3 seconds.

You must leave it on in case of single-player games. This way, you can save on charge even when you are not using the controller. You must keep it turned off at the time of online sessions so you don't get booted from the game.

3) Disconnect Your Xbox Controller and Pair It One More Time

If your batteries are working properly, then you must try disconnecting your Xbox controller and pair it once again. There isn't any straightforward method to unpair the controller from Xbox, you can simply select one of the two methods mentioned below.

Step 1: first of all, pair your Xbox controller with the Xbox of your friend. This will easily unpair the controller from your device.

Step 2: After that, pair your controller to the PC. If your computer is running on Windows 10, then pair the controller seamlessly with your computer.

After you are done pairing your controller by using one of the methods mentioned above, you need o go back and then run the same pairing procedure on your Xbox to connect it.

4) Connect Your Xbox Controller Using a USB Cable

In case you are still encountering issues with your Xbox controller and you can't acquire batteries, then you must use a USB cable. Run a cable between your controller and Xbox and then try to use it as a wired controller. Please don't forget that if the batteries are dead or the wire gets disconnected by mistake, then the controller will turn off.

5) Get a Play and Charge Kit

If you are someone who plays for a very long time, then you should definitely get a play-and-charge kit. These are available online and you can also get them from nearby retail stores. In case your battery dies, then this can turn out to be extremely useful.

Using this kit, you can charge the controller while you are playing, so if you see a low-battery message, then you must connect it to your Xbox with a USB-c cable and continue.

6) Please Make Sure that You are within the Range of your Xbox Controller

In case you are playing on a large format screen like a projector, then you need to ensure that your Xbox is within the range of your controller and they are not very far away from each other.

Some objects such as artifacts, tables, and chairs may interfere with the range of your controller. Microsoft mentioned that a controller is supported from 40 feet away. Therefore, it is recommended to not go further than 30 feet.
