How To Fix Honeywell Thermostat Blank Screen?

Honeywell thermostat is probably the best at regulating temperatures at home but you may occasionally see a blank screen on the thermostat triggering the need to carefully execute a troubleshooting drive. The first option to fix Honeywell Thermostat Blank Screen issue is to take care of any potential power failure by verifying the wiring and stability in voltage as damaged wiring and unregulated power supply may lead to the blank screen problem.

Encountering a blank screen on your Honeywell thermostat can be concerning, especially when you rely on it for controlling the temperature of your home. A blank screen indicates a loss of power or an internal issue with the thermostat, deranging its functionality. However, resolving this issue and restoring your thermostat's operation is usually achievable with a few simple steps.

Are you wondering How To Fix the Honeywell Thermostat Blank Screen? Well then, in this guide, we’ll provide you with some quick and easy steps that will help you fix the Honeywell thermostat blank screen in no time.

What Leads to the Honeywell Thermostat Blank Screen and How to Fix It?

As we have mentioned before, the main reason why the Honeywell thermostat screen goes blank is the power supply problem. Also, there is a chance that your Honeywell thermostat's lifespan is over and it requires a replacement. You should always go for a replacement when your thermostat gets old.

1) Power and Battery Issues with the Thermostat

The blank screen usually appears when there are problems with the power supply. This can happen because of various things such as dead batteries, broken wires, etc. If this is the problem, then you can fix it by replacing the batteries and you won't be required to replace the thermostat.

a) Dead Batteries

When your Honeywell thermostat does not have enough battery, you will receive a low battery notification on your screen. However, you may miss this notification when you are out or don't stay enough at home.

To resolve this issue, you need to replace the batteries of your Honeywell thermostat.

  • A normal thermostat has a button on the top of the Thermostat called "Press".
  • Press this button in order to release the battery pack. It has AAA alkaline batteries.
  • Dispose of your old batteries and replace them with new ones.
  • Keep the battery compartment back and the thermostat blank screen issue will get fixed.

b) Tripped Circuit Breaker

Is your thermostat connected to your home electricity system? If yes, then you must check the breaker as a tripped breaker can cut off the power supply to the thermostat and then you will see a blank screen on your thermostat. To resolve this issue, you must go to your home electricity box and search for the circuit breaker which is tipped off.

When you find a tipped breaker, reset it and then your thermostat will get a normal power supply. Also, your thermostat will start working normally. If you don't know how to work with an electricity box, consult a professional and they will do this for you.

c) Issue with the Wirings

Was your thermostat installed recently? If yes, then bad wiring can disrupt the power supply of your Honeywell thermostat. If the installation process was performed by a professional, then you must tell them about your problem and check wiring issues without paying any extra charges.

If you wish to do this yourself, then below mentioned are the steps that you need to follow.

Step 1: First of all, you need to disconnect your thermostat from the power source.

Step 2: After that, you need to search for HVAC wires and fix the wiring. For this, you need to open the thermostat from the base.

Step 3: You will normally see 5 wires in the circuit board. However, if you have an old thermostat, then you will see 4 wires instead.

  • G- For fan
  • W- For heating
  • Rc- Indicates furnace and heat pump.
  • Rh- Indicates the air conditioner

You may find that your circuit has only one wire, which is labeled as R. In case you only have one wire, you need to keep both the wires in the same terminal and then you must screw them. You can also remove all the wires and screw them appropriately. This will resolve your issue with the thermostat and the HVAC.

After connecting the HVAC wires to the right terminals, the thermostat screen will turn on. Also, you need to switch the circuit breaker on.
