How to Change Alexa Voice?

Are you pissed off listening to boring commands and want to change Alexa voice. Obviously, you must have got bored hearing that same voice repetitively. So, all you need to do is to change Alexa's accent with the help of this easy guide.

For all those who are tired of hearing Alexa’s robotic voice, they can make her sound a little more human like by changing the way she talks or commands. While, currently there is no option to transform it to a male voice, here’s how to change Alexa Voice to a different regional accent.

The family of Echo speakers by Amazon are loaded with amazing lifestyle features and yes automation skills too. Now, the only thing we require is to change the Alexa’s monotone way of speaking. Well, you are lucky to get this guide.

You can change Alexa Voice to one with a regional accent, a celebrity, and even a different language altogether. We guess that you want to give Alexa a British accent, don't you? Yes, you can make that happen easily. However, there's always a warning on your head.

By changing Alexa’s voice, it will make it harder for the device to understand your voice while you don’t speak in that particular accent in command. So, unless you develop a perfect accent, its always a confusion for Alexa to understand your voice commands.

How can You Change Alexa Voice for Your Device?

Are you ready to hear the a bit fine and cool version of Alexa? Just imagine how fun it will be to hear your favorite celebrity on your Echo device. Do you remember when Amazon had played with this idea in the 2018 ad campaign for the Super Bowl?

Certainly, in that series of ads, celebrities like Rebel Wilson, Gordon Ramsay, Cardi B, and Anthony Hopkins took part to play the voice of Alexa to the surprise of Echo users.

Though the celebrity voices are not a standard feature on the Echo yet, but you can definitely change Alexa Voice or accent with the help of the following steps:

Step 1: Firstly, launch the Alexa app on your system or device.

Step 2: Next, go to the Devices section which is usually the house-shaped icon present at the bottom right of your screen.

Step 3: Here, you can select your desired device. If you are owning multiple devices, then choose the one for which you want to change Alexa Voice.

Step 4: Now, scroll down to the Language section. It is set to English (United States) language by default.

Step 5: Here, you can select your language/dialect you want. Moreover, Alexa can speak in several English accents that cover different regions around the world, including Canada, India, Australia/New Zealand, United Kingdom and many others.

Step 6: Finally, tap on the OK button.

Important: Please note that while you change Alexa Voice, you might get a warning that some Alexa skills and capabilities will no longer be available for use.

At last, you need to wait for the device to switch to a new language or accent as required. By this procedure, Alexa will start speaking English but with a regional accent.

Who Works as the Voice of Alexa?

Actually, in a letter shared to the shareholders, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said that “Alexa was inspired by the Star Trek computer,” which is the voice by Majel Barrett-Roddenberry.

However, unlike the Star Trek computer, Alexa’s voice has no origin or relation with the humans at all. Rather, Alexa’s voice was created using the Natural Language Processing system, which breaks down human speech into words, sounds, and then to ideas.

Generally, the process starts when the device picks up your command and sends the data to the cloud-based Alexa Voice Service (AVS) server. Considering AVS as Alexa’s “brain” that converts what you say into text through Automatic Speech Recognition and Natural Language Understanding. Thereafter, analyzing your voice request, Alexa’s brain sends back an appropriate response to the target device.

Additionally, with the growing competitive market for smart-home voice assistants, you can think of the technology behind Alexa to become more complicated as well. For example, there is a planned update for the end of year that allows the users to give Alexa-related requests without having to repeat the words of command every time.

Hope this guide helps in understanding the process to change Alexa Voice.
