How to Fix Alexa Multi-Room Audio Not Working or Unreachable?

If the problem is appearing because of the inclusion of Bluetooth speakers. As Bluetooth introduces a delay, a multi-room audio feature is not going to work at all.

This problem may appear because of hardware failure or an Amazon outage. Whatever may be the reason, below are some troubleshooting steps that can bring back the lost harmony on your Alexa-enabled devices. 

How can I Resolve Alexa Multi-Room Audio not Working Problem? 

If you wish to fix the multi-room audio not working problem, then below are some solutions that you need to apply to fix your problem. 

1) Connect Your Audio Devices to the Same Wireless Network 

In case the Alexa-enabled devices are not connected to the same network, then you are going to see the device unreachable error. Connect your Echo device to a wireless network and check if this fixes your problem. 

2) Disconnect the Speakers from the Alexa-Enabled Device

In case your Echo device is paired with Bluetooth speakers, then remove the connection prior to including the device in your multi-room group. There is a chance that you may face an unknown delay between the audio output of different devices. 

3) Switch from 5 Ghz to 2.5 GHz

In case your router device has 5 GHz and 2.5 GHZ network, then connect your Alexa-enabled device to a phone with 2.4 GHZ network. Wireless networks on their band are slow but quite reliable. This is very important if Alexa devices are spread over a large area. 

4) Try Using different Alexa Commands

If you generally say, "Play on all devices" and then say, "Alexa, play music everywhere in the group". Replace the playlist with one of your playlists and "everywhere group" and give it the name multi-room audio group. 

5) Play Music from Various Supported Audio Source

In case you are using Spotify, then you must ask Alexa to play music using Pandora or some other supported source on your group. 

6) Reboot Your Alexa-Enabled Device

Reboot your Echo device, which is not working with multi-room audio and then see if multi-room audio is working or not. 

7) Reboot Your Modem and Router

Once your modem and router start running, please ensure that your Echo devices are connected to the right Wi-Fi network. Also, check if the multi-room audio is not working. 

8) Delete Your Multi-Room Music Group

Go to the Alexa app and then delete the group from there. After that, try to create it again from scratch. When you delete and recreate the group, you need to say, "Alexa, play (playlist) on (Group Name). 

9) Delete and Then Reinstall the Alexa App on Your Device

Once you reinstall your Alexa app, then you can create your multi-room music group again. Check if it works by saying, "Alexa, play(Playlist) on (group name).  

10) Reset Your Amazon Echo Device

Complete a factory reset on your device, which is not working on multi-room audio. After that, you are required to set up your device again. After that, reconnect it to your wireless network. Then, you must add it to your Amazon account. 

11) Check If There is a Server Error
