The light ring is the visual means through which Amazon Echo device communicates its status to the user. Amazon Echo speakers display various colors which can be extremely confusing. Every light ring color flashing on your speaker indicates a different meaning. So, let’s take a deeper look at what these lights indicate.
When you give a wake-up call to Alexa or wake it up manually, the ring light will become solid blue with some part in cyan and will point in your direction.
The swirling blue ring light at the top indicates that your device is turning on. In case this blue ring keeps on spinning for a long time, then that means there is some problem with your Alexa app. If there is nothing wrong with your Alexa app and the blue ring is still spinning, then try restarting your speaker to fix this problem.
If the light blue light is flashing, then that means Alexa is in the process of responding to a request made by you. In case, you did not make any request, then Amazon assistant must have misinterpreted the background noise as a request. If you don’t hear a response from Alexa but the blue ring light keeps on spinning, then stop the spinning by saying “Alexa Stop”.
Spinning yellow light indicates that your Amazon Echo device is connecting to the wireless network. If the yellow light keeps on blinking for a while, then look at your Alexa app and check if you need to enter your password once again.
Alexa flashing yellow light means that you have received a new message. To listen to the messages, give a command to Alexa to read your messages.
A steady red light indicates that the microphone of your device has been turned off. Alexa will not be able to hear your voice commands if the mic is turned off. Press the microphone button on your Echo’s top to turn on the mic.
This will enable you to communicate with Alexa. Alexa flashing red light on your Amazon Echo speaker means that your speaker was not able to process your request.
Alexa flashing green light means that you are getting a call from someone. Accept the call by saying “Answer” and if you want to decline the call, then say “ignore” to Alexa.
The green ring light spinning clockwise indicates that you are on a call. If you did not realize that you have picked up a call, then disconnect the call in the Alexa app or give commands to Alexa to hang up.
Purple light flashing on Amazon Echo device means you are encountering issues while connecting your device to the wireless network. To solve this problem, open Alexa app and check wireless settings.
If the purple ring light flashes only once after interacting with Alexa, then that means you have turned on Do Not Disturb on your device. To disable Do Not Disturb, move the toggle towards the left.
One sees white light while adjusting the volume on the device. If you see the white light otherwise, then you must check if something wrong with the volume button. If the white light is spinning continuously, then that means Alexa guard is on Away mode.
If the ring light is turned off on your device, then it means that your Amazon Echo device is turned on and is waiting for you to give a voice command. The light ring remains off most of the time.
So, this was all you need to know about Alexa’s ring light behavior. Every ring light indicates a different meaning. Not just the color but the behavior of ring lights communicate a different status. Swinging lights, solid lights, and flashing lights have a different meaning. We hope that this article clears all your doubts regarding different ring behaviors of Alexa.
