Why does Nest Camera Keep Going Offline?

Even after setting up your Nest camera with the app,  it may get disconnected from your wifi. You may find out some kind of blank spots in your video history, or you may not be able to see the other person who is standing at your doorstep. Automatically your camera will go offline or online on your nest app home screen. Some of the common issues which occur offline are bandwidth usage, router settings, and wireless interference.

If the Nest camera goes offline, then there can be a number of problems, like high bandwidth regulation, wireless interference, changed router settings, and more. You can check if any alerts in the nest app or in your mail. If the camera is without plug or there is no power for more than 10 minutes, you’ll get a single and an email comprising a picture of the last thing your camera saw.

Important: Before, you start your nest doorbell, you should hold physical access to your camera. You will not be able to accomplish all the troubleshooting steps remotely as we don't provide remote restart or reset options because it could negotiate the security of the camera.

Basic Steps of Troubleshoots:

Some of the primary troubleshooting steps which you can execute even when you are not at your home, on the other hand other steps will require you to be at home.

Monitor the status of Nest service. Hardly, when the Nest service is poor, it will directly show that your camera is offline. Go back to see when it has fixed itself.

Another thing which you can do is check your Nest app version. Make sure that you have the advanced version of the app. You can also download the latest version from the Apple App Store or Google Play. You can uninstall and reinstall your app, to make sure that you have the newest version.

  • Try turning off another camera or device which is connected to your wifi.
  • Change the position of your camera

  • Factory reset your camera

You have Changed Your WiFi Password or New Router Access and Your Camera is Offline.

Recently if you have changed your wifi router or wifi password, then it is important that you need to update your camera with all the new wifi network details.

You are Getting a Lot of Camera Offline Notification:

If you are receiving a lot of notifications offline, this usually means your Nest camera doesn’t have a consistent Wi-Fi connection. It’s likely disconnecting, then reconnecting again.

Note: You can’t turn this notification off. It’s always on to keep you informed about important events.

1. Check your Wi-Fi connection

Your Camera Disconnects Around the Same Time and Then Reconnects:

Your router may disconnect for a short period of time when the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol lease for your IP address closes. The lease normally starts overs automatically and reconnects.
